REEBOK REGIONAL ROUND UP
The Ospreys Captain and outside half Daniel Biggar helped himself to three penalties in reply, but it was scrum half James who won the day as the Scarlets ran out 12-9 at Stradey Park.
Team manager Lyn Evans said, “It was a hard fought game but I am delighted for the boys that we have got this first win of the season. The boys were outstanding in difficult conditions, but Tom James was the man of the match by some distance.”
In the game between the Dragons U20 and the Scarlets at Abertillery Park, it was another Scarlets scrum half – Liam Davies – who was the hero. The Dragons led 24-21 going into the final minute but a last gasp penalty from Davies earned the visitors a draw.
Tight head Richard Cornock, flanker Robert Nash and replacement loose head Daniel Preece (2) crossed for tries for the Dragons with outside half Greg Callow kicking two conversions.
For the Scarlets there were tries for wing Chris Mathias, centre Ioan Taffetsaufer and hooker Emyr Phillips with Davies adding the all important late penalty and three conversions.
