Scrum-half Roberts followed up his treble against Newport Saracens last week with another three against Nantymoel as Bargoed were crowned champions with a 78-12 victory.

No8 Lewis Wayman and winger Gary Jones also weighed in with a brace while Lee Pearson, Darren Humphries and Anthony Lott all followed while Jamie Howells converted nine times to complete the rout in their final game of the season.

The win took Bargoed nine points clear of Abercynon and Newport Saracens who do not have enough games left to close the gap, particularly after Saracens crashed to a 36-24 defeat at Pill Harriers.

Scrum-half Mark Thorogood grabbed a hat-trick and centre Gary Lloyd added two as Harriers wrecked Saracens’ promotion hopes.

They remain in third on points difference behind Abercynon notched up their tenth win in a row at Llantwit Fardre, thanks to tries from Kristian Baller, Chris King, Ian Withey and Lyndon Lewis.

Pontypool United missed the chance to close the gap on Division Three (East) leaders Abergavenny when the were beaten 26-24 by Cwmbran in a nail-biting game. Alex Davies bagged an 18-point haul, including two tries, as New Tredegar saw off Pontllanfraith while Fairwater’s Rhys McCarthy crossed three times in their 31-12 win over visiting Nelson


Division Three (South-East) champions Ynysybwl ended the season with a 38-21 victory over Treorchy though Treherbert look to have secured promotion in second place with a 30-5 win at Gilfach Goch.


St Peters missed the chance to win Division Four (East) when they slipped to a dramatic 35-31 loss at Nantyglo to hand Newport HSOB the title on points difference.

Lee Davies score twice to deny St Peters the win that would have seen them crowned champions after starting level on points with the Old Boys and Garndiffaith.


Bedlinog secured their runners-up spot in Division Four (South-East) with a 36-12 success against Llandaff North while Division Five (East) champions Machen signed off with a narrow 16-13 win over Abertillery BG.
