Mills converted all three of his side’s tries and had slotted two penalties to put his side within a point of the league leaders. Then came his injury time winner.
Wing Simon Hunt and forwards Aiono Senio and John Bowd crossed for the home side and the fit again Jamie Davies and full back Liam Gadd, twice, ran in tries for the Wizards. Davies also kicked 10 points.
With second placed Newport also losing away from home, 33-13 at Swansea, the way was cleared for defending champions Neath to march back to the top of the table.
An outrageous dummy from former Wales outside half Arwel Thomas enabled him to cross for a try on the stroke of half-time to give Neath a 17-3 interval lead over Maesteg and that score knocked the stuffing out of the visitors. There were three more Neath tries after the break as they romped to a 34-13 win.
At St Helen’s, second half tries from right wing Rhys Jones and full back Ricky Williams helped Swansea to break the deadlock after the scoreline was tied at 13-13 at the break against Newport.
A Scott Williams try, converted by outside half Dan Griffiths who also kicked two penalties, kept the black and ambers in touch, but it was a different story in the second half.
Stuart Thomas converted both of Swansea’s second half tries, making it three out of three after he improved Nicky Thomas’ first half score, and the All Whites outside half also kicked two penalties in each half to end the game with 18 points.
There were 14 points from the boot of Scott Mitchell as Cross Keys continued their improvement to beat Pontypridd 39-6 at home. It was still a close game at half-time, with Keys only leading 10-3, but four second half tries took the home side clear.
Gareth Chapman crossed for a first half try for Keys and then hooker Gary Horrigan and wing David James each ran in two.
Shaun Thomas was the toast of Bedwas after he kicked four penalties and a conversion in his side’s 19-13 win at Glamorgan Wanderers. Thomas kicked four first-half penalties to give his side a 12-3 interval lead and he also converted a penalty try in the second half.
The Wanderers grabbed two tries through Gareth Morris and Gareth Knight, but Charlie Johnson could only manage one conversion.
There were two more tries from Cardiff win Tom James as he helped his side win 23-14 at Llandovery, while Llanelli moved off the bottom with a stunning 64-22 home win over Bridgend that included a try hat-trick from wing Craig Richards and 19 points from the boot of Gareth Bowen.
