As the championship race gathers pace Aberavon welcome league leaders Ebbw Vale to the Talbot Athletic Ground on Saturday. The Steelmen opened up a five-point gap at the top of Wales’s top flight with last weekend’s 37-23 victory over Bridgend.
Eighth placed Aberavon, meanwhile, were handed a week off after their clash with Newport was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The Steelmen will be keen to keep up their recent run of form while the teams behind watch with baited breath, waiting for them to stumble.
The Wizards lost out 27-25 when the sides met earlier this season but know they are more than capable of causing an upset.
At the wrong end of the table fourth from bottom Bedwas take on second from bottom Glamorgan Wanderers in a crucial game for both clubs. Bedwas are two points ahead of their visitors and a win on Saturday would lift them clear of any immediate relegation worries.
The Wanderers are four points clear of Llandovery at the bottom but the Drovers hold a game in hand and a win against Bedwas would ease the pressure for Glamorgan.
Bridgend take on Llanelli at the Brewery Field with both sides coming into the fixture on the back of defeats last weekend. The Ravens fell at Ebbw Vale while Llanelli’s ten game unbeaten record came to an unlikely end at the hands of Maesteg.
At the Arms Park Cardiff front up to basement-dwellers Llandovery who are four points adrift at the foot of the table. The Drovers are in desperate need of a win while Cardiff will be keen to put the misery of last weekend’s loss to rivals Swansea behind them.
Maesteg play host to reigning champions Neath who dispatched struggling Glamorgan Wanderers 36-20 in their last outing. The Welsh All Blacks may consider this a game already won but the Old Parish will have other ideas, especially after last weekend’s 33-21 humbling of high-flying Llanelli.
At Sardis Road second-placed Pontypridd go head-to-head with Cross Keys looking for three points and hoping Ebbw Vale slip up at Aberavon.
In the weekend’s other game Rodney Parade is the setting for third placed Newport’s clash with Swansea.
