Rickard cleared in disciplinary hearing

At a Six Nations disciplinary hearing in London today, Wales wing Louise Rickard was found not to have committed the offence for which she received her first yellow card in the match against Ireland on Saturday February 3rd 2007. As a result the disciplinary committee, chaired by Robert Horner (England), decided that the red card subsequently issued for a second yellow card in the match should be declared void and removed from the record.

Welsh Women’s Rugby Union Manager Jilly Holroyd commented: “We are pleased with the outcome as it was obvious through video evidence that Louise was not guilty of the offence she was alleged to have committed. It has been a particularly stressful time for Louise so I am glad that she can now focus on the game against Scotland this weekend.”

Wales Women will take on Scotland this Saturday (10th February 2007) at Boroughmuir RFC, forty minutes east of Edinburgh (1.00pm).
