The three man independent Six Nations Disciplinary Committee comprising of Chris Quinlan (RFU, Chairman), Richard McGhee (SRU) and Mike Rafter (RFU), upheld the citing after listening to submissions by and on behalf of the player and viewing the video evidence of the incident.
Bergamasco was suspended for a period of four weeks from March 12th 2007, and will be able to resume playing on Monday April 9th.
He will miss Italy’s final RBS Six Nations match with Ireland and the crucial Heineken Cup quarter-final against Leicester Tigers for his club side, Stade Francais Paris.
