Round Up: ASDA Leagues West

The Wanderers welcome back Blues centre Dafydd Hewitt into the squad for Saturday's clash with Pontypridd at the Memorial Ground.

Fullback Chris Keane scored the winning try and Rhodri Lewis added three penalties in their 14-13 win that gives them a five-point advantage in the promotion race.

Carmarthen Athletic ran Tonna ragged in their emphatic 69-27 triumph but Seven Sisters are struggling to avoid the drop, going down to their fifteenth defeat, 15-22 to Kidwelly.


The three-horse race to claim top spot in Division Three looks set to go all the way with only three points separating Aberystwyth, Tumble and Llangefni with the end of the season in sight. Aberystwyth won 27-14 at Ammanford, Tumble ran out 39-10 winners at Pembroke Dock Quins while Llangefni scraped a hard-fought 12-6 success at Lampeter.


Brynamman produced the shock of the weekend, stunning Division Three South-West leaders Heol-y-Cyw to blast the promotion race wide open and boost their own survival hopes. Brynamman are bottom of the division but turned the table on its head with a 29-24 win over the title favourites, opening the door for Mumbles who beat Amman United 46-3.


Llanybydder avoided such embarrassment and now need just one more victory to clinch the Division Four title after beating bottom side New Dock Stars 57-8. Tycroes were crowned Division Five champions in style with a 32-0 win over Penygroes.
