Regions join forces to end Tiger dreams
The Welsh regions stand between the Tigers and an historic hat-trick of domestic and European titles at Twickenham this season. Leicester fight for the EDF Energy Cup against the Ospreys this Saturday before tackling Llanelli Scarlets six days later for a ticket to the Heineken Cup Final.
Ospreys Coach Lyn Jones and Scarlets boss Phil Davies, Wales teammates in their playing days, are prepared to put their local rivalry to one side to ensure double success for Wales against the Tigers.
Jones said, “We’re going to face Leicester on successive weekends, let’s hope we can make it a miserable few days for them.
“To that end, I’ll offer Phil all we know about Leicester. Games against them are always interesting, we played them twice last year and lost both despite being the better side over the 160 minutes. That was a hard lesson.
“Perhaps Phil will be interested in what we pick up in our final and I certainly have no problem sharing our knowledge for the sake of Welsh rugby.”
Jones concluded, “It’s great to have regions vying to reach major cup finals, it shows things are working.”
