Hook delighted by Magners League success

Wales’s wünderkid put in a man of the match display and sealed the Ospreys’ Championship with a last minute penalty which provided the Welsh region with a 24-16 win over Borders on the weekend.

That was enough to see the Welsh region, who had fallen at the final hurdle in the EDF Energy Cup final at Twickenham last month, clinch their second Celtic title in three seasons in Scotland, overtaking the Cardiff Blues who had defeated Leinster and paved the way for them to claim the crown.

“It’s a great feeling and a reward for all the hard work we’ve put in all campaign,” said Hook. “We made it hard for ourselves, but we made it, which counts and everyone is thrilled to bits. There was a lot of disappointment after losing in the EDF Energy Cup final to Leicester and we didn’t want to let it slip again.”

Hook’s nine points coupled with Sonny Parker’s brace of tries saw the nervous Ospreys stumble over the finishing line against a Borders side playing their last ever game before being disbanded.
