Tredegar RFC mourn former player

Former Tredegar player Paul Woods passed away at Neville Hall Hospital on Friday November 2nd aged fifty seven.

Scrum half Paul joined the club in the early seventies from village side Oakdale and established himself as one of the strongest and most competitive players in Gwent.

He joined Pontypool from Tredegar and from there he went north to join Widnes Rugby League. He forged a successful career in the professional code and played in the Rugby League Cup Final.

He made his debut for Wales R.L. against England and was voted man of the match, he went on to play ten times for Wales. Following his retirement he returned to Tredegar as team manager for a few years.

The club extend their condolences to Angela and all of Paul’s family at this sad time.
