The precocious youngster converted Gareth Chapman’s try and added two penalty goals to give Cardiff an unexpected 13-3 first-half lead and then waltzed over for a try of his own in the second half, which he duly converted, to extend his side’s lead.

A Ross Davies try put Neath back in the hunt but proved not to be enough as Cardiff held firm for a much needed away day triumph.

Ebbw Vale missed out on the opportunity to leap-frog the champions into first place when Glamorgan Wanderers produced a first half blitz to end their seven game unbeaten run 16-8 with Aled James kicking 11 points to add to a James Loxton try.

Pontypridd, Swansea and Aberavon recorded comfortable victories but Bridgend were denied a rare win when a last-gasp Andrew Tibbats try for Bedwas secured his side a 27-27 draw.
