With four defeats in as many games, the Dragons are the only region unable to make it through, although their form of late in losing narrowly to the Scarlets and Ospreys suggests they could have a say in the final pairing.
Having lost narrowly to the Ospreys last time out, the Dragons entertain the Scarlets at Pontypool with High Performance Manager Ron Shottle hoping that his side can reverse their recent fortunes and bag a first win of the campaign.
He said, “We couldn’t have asked anything more from the side over the past couple of games. The boys have been fantastic but lady luck is just not shining on us. Maybe that will change.”
With a 50 per cent record from their four games to date, the Scarlets trail leaders the Blues and second placed Ospreys who meet each other at Jenner Park, Barry this evening.
A win for the Scarlets at The Park, and defeat without a bonus for either one of the top two, will throw the race wide open once more.
Dai Arthur, High Performance Manager for the Ospreys said, “It’s getting to the business end of the season now and whoever wins this week will fancy their chances of going through. The final round of matches is next week, so it’s all to play for.”
On Wednesday, it’s the turn of the U18s with the Ospreys entertaining the Blues at Llandarcy and the Dragons heading west to take on the Scarlets.
