Warren Gatland’s Wales team will face Scotland, Italy and France in Cardiff in the 2008 championship and the Welsh Rugby Union is offering its loyal fan base a unique opportunity to register in advance for the right to purchase any tickets returned by the Union’s member clubs and associated bodies.
By registering in advance online by clicking here from 9.00am tomorrow (Friday 7th December 2007), the WRU hopes to give those fans who might ordinarily miss out on the chance to see an international match an opportunity to register their interest.
The Priority Purchase List will log all enquiries and then send a specific e-mail to those registered offering them an opportunity to purchase any returned tickets before they go on public sale.
Fans will have between Friday 14th December and Monday 17th December to purchase any returned tickets. If any tickets are made available they will be allocated on a priority basis in order of registration – and subject to the terms and conditions applicable to tickets imposed at time of purchase.
Fans should note that tickets are subject to availability and registration does not guarantee they will be able to purchase any.
A similar process was set up for the Prince William Cup match against South Africa at the Millennium Stadium last month and had a very positive response, but this will be the first time the WRU has used it for the RBS Six Nations.
Head of Ticketing and Compliance Julie Paterson said: “This is a unique system, and one which we believe is the fairest way of looking after those fans who might ordinarily miss out on seeing their heroes play at this level.
“The take up of tickets for Six Nations matches by the WRU member clubs is always high and rarely do we see many returned to us unsold to their own members.
“Any returns are then offered to the general public, but this time those eager to come to the Millennium Stadium will at least be able to register their interest by getting into our electronic queue.
“Those people who register will be given priority when, and if, the WRU receives any returns for the games against Scotland, Italy and France.
“We had three sell-out crowds for the matches against the three ‘Blue’ teams two years ago and our aim is to give Warren Gatland and his players the best chance of playing in front of full houses once again in 2008.”
