Pontypridd have been out of action for three weeks, due to the Wales v South Africa international and a spell of seasonally inclement weather. However, the heavy rain and stormy conditions which caused the postponement of the clash against Bridgend last Saturday have continued unabated, and with a forecast of more of the same into the coming weekend.
Ponty’s training session at Sardis on Thursday evening had to be curtailed, the playing surface being better suited to scuba diving than rugby union.
A pitch inspection is planned at Sardis Road on the morning of the Bedwas fixture, when a decision can be made, as early as possible, as to the viability of playing the game.
The extended mid season break has at least given some of the Pontypridd squad a chance to recover from recent injuries. Full back Jason Pocock, centre Adam Thomas and hooker Rhys Williams are all back in contention and hopeful, as are the rest of the Ponty squad, of seeing some competitive action over the weekend.
