Wales prop Thomas and centre Gomer-Davies spent two nights in a police cell following a fight in Treviso two weeks ago in which a police officer was hurt.

The players admitted bringing the region into disrepute after breaking a team curfew after their Heineken Cup victory over Benetton Treviso on December 8th.

Half the fine has been suspended and £1,000 will be donated to the club’s chosen charity, the Teenage Cancer Trust. They will also be forced to pay costs of returning home late.

A Dragons statement read: “The pair admitted they had brought the Region into disrepute, having breached the Players Code of Conduct and Standards of Conduct expected of the team.

“They reiterated their apologies and sorrow to the people involved, their families, the Dragons team and its supporters. They admit they have learnt a valuable lesson and wish to make amends with the team and its fans.

“The Dragons management now regard the issue closed and there will be no further comment on this matter.”

The Dragons are also likely to face disciplinary action from Heineken Cup organisers European Rugby Cup Ltd.
