Visiting Mumbles sat two points clear of the chasing pack at the start of the day but found themselves behind at the break to a single penalty from Cwm fullback Steven Browning. The game remained tight in the second period as the packs wrestled for the initiative but it was home outside-half Gareth John who broke the deadlock to snipe over and give his side a deserved 8-0 lead. The leaders did manage a score of their own to secure a losing bonus point but the day belonged to Cwmavon.
Stuart Morris scored the only try as Kidwelly overcame Penclawdd 13-0 while Lougher enjoyed an entirely more prosperous afternoon as they hammered Nantymoel 57-0.
In the only other game to survive the weather in League Two West Carmarthen Athletic ran four tries past Pencoed in a 29-5 triumph. Leighton McCullen, Nick Morris, Jack Freeman and Aled Thomas were the try scorers while outside half David Evans added nine points with the boot. Aaron Halfe crossed for Pencoed’s consolation score.
In League Three West, Llanelli Wanderers went above their visitors Lampeter Town after a convincing 39-0 thumping. The home side scored six tries in the match through Daniel Rogers, Dan Nicholson and Adam Thomas in the first half and Alex Lewis, Evan Mayze and Mark Davies in the second.
Cardigan recorded an expected win over lowly Pembroke Dock Harlequins 17-0 scoring three tries in the process.
