Matchday Programme Download: Wales U20 v Scotland U20 (2.4MB)
First half tries by Leigh Halfpenny, Scott Andrews and Ryan Bevington were followed up by star of the show Daniel Evans’s score after the break to seal a fine victory at Rodney Parade. The Wales U20 boss hailed his young side after they bounced back from defeat to England U20 last weekend.
Horgan said: “It was an excellent victory and we showed how dangerous we can be. We blew them away in the first fifteen to twenty minutes of both halves. That was down to the quality of our set-piece and we must give credit to our forward pack because they took some criticism against England.
“It allowed our backs to run the ball and we’ve got talented backs. Daniel Evans was excellent and a lovely player to watch and will play for Wales one day along with Jonathan Davies and Dan Biggar.
“We lost control of the game for a period and Scotland came back into it but that was down to us. We created our own errors and needed to show more patience with the ball. We were creating problems for them but threw the ball around too much and ended up getting turned over. They were strong up front and around the fringes and kept picking up penalties.”
