Richard Parks missed out on the Heineken Cup matches last month with the knee injury he picked up against Cardiff Blues at Christmas, and is delighted to return to the squad ahead of this weekend’s Magners League game.

“It’s great news that I’m available for selection this week. I had the opportunity to get a lot of rehab done in the short break during the internationals and it’s paid off with me returning earlier than some had originally expected,” he said.

“I am enjoying being back with the squad and hope to pick up from where I left off if selected this weekend.”

Ashley Smith returns after picking up a back injury against London Irish at the Madejski Stadium and Joe Bearman is fighting fit following a double hernia operation.

Fullback Martyn Thomas is back after ten weeks due to a groin injury and Lee Harrison and Jamie Corsi return from long-term injury, having started for Newport and Cross Keys respectively in the Premiership last weekend. Steve Jones is the seventh member of the squad to return to fitness.
