In an entertaining match, West Carmarthenhire ran out narrow but deserved winners by 27 points to 22 points.
A big and powerful Heart of Wales team built an early lead with tries from Bradley Tarbuck and Aaron Harris, but crucially neither try was converted. On the stroke of half time Tom Gravell kicked a penalty for West Carmarthenshire to cut the Heart of Wales lead to 10-3.
In the second half the Heart of Wales re-established their healthy lead with tries from Andrew Murphy and Mitchell Dummett, the second of which was converted by Marcus Clyne. Between these two Heart of Wales tries a sweeping West Carmarthenshire move ended with the try of the match by impressive centre Adam Warren. This try was converted by replacement outside half Rhys Harries.
Going into the last quarter the Heart of Wales team maintained a healthy 22 points to 10 points lead. Yet the resilient West Carmarthenshire side came back with another try from Warren, well converted by Harries. They snatched the lead three minutes from time with a try from James Siddell which the cool Harries again converted into a goal. Harries sealed the victory with a well struck penalty.
Both teams exhibited skill and enthusiasm, which entertained a vocal crowd at the Talbot Athletic Ground.
