British Lions and Wales scrum half Peel, regarded as one of the best in the northern hemisphere, leaves Stradey Park for Sale Sharks at the end of the season. But before his summer switch north, Peel claims he’s only focussed on leading the West Walians to their second Magners League title in five seasons.
Peel, 26, said: “I definitely want to end on a high and it would be extra special to win the league. I’ve won trophies here but to win another one would be fantastic.”
The Scarlets aim to cut league leaders Leinster’s 10-point lead at the summit when the top two clash on Saturday night. And Scarlets Coach Phil Davies reckons the title race is far from over.
He said: “You’ve only got to look at Manchester United in the Premiership. They were seven points behind Arsenal a month ago but they’re now five points clear.
“Things can change quickly but we’ve got to win this weekend. Last week’s win over Cardiff Blues was probably our best performance of the season and we’re building momentum at just the right time.”
Wales star Mark Jones is available again after Six Nations duty while Irish flanker Simon Easterby will meet doctors today (Wed) to get the all-clear over a persistent knee injury.
