The last ten years of the competition has seen Rhondda Schools appear in 6 finals; the team will be competing for an unprecedented third Dewar Shield title in a row as they take on a plucky Pontypridd side.
Saturday promises to provide an entertaining day of Welsh Schools rugby as two further pieces of silverware are up for grabs.
Four years previously the competition was restructured, so that all district schools competed in five pools of six teams in a first phase of the competition. The second phase then saw the top two teams in each league proceed to the Dewar Shield final; the 3rd and 4th place teams proceeded to the Morgan Griffiths Plate Competition whilst the fifth and sixth placed team progressed to the Amdahl Bowl Final.
All three finals will take place at Llandovery on Saturday; Cardiff A Schools take on Ceredigion Schools in the Amdahl Bowl Final at 11am; Pontypool Schools do battle with the Vale of Glamorgan Schools for the Morgan Griffiths Plate at midday with the Dewar Shield Final setting up a thrilling final clash of the afternoon.
Saturday will celebrate 103 since the Dewar Shield was first awarded, with tomorrow’s competition aided by the support of Health Challenge Wales.
