Nearly half of the players selected were involved in Samoa U19’s challenge at the 2007 IRB U19 World Championship 2007 when they finished seventh in Division A after edging Argentina U19 13-12 on the final day. The players that fall under this category include Afa Aioni; who has been already been named as captain, and his back row colleagues Richard Muagututia, Ikoke Solomona and Misioka Timoteo.
Samoa U20 will open their IRB Junior World Championship campaign against Scotland U20 at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, the same venue where they will meet their other Pool B opponents USA U20 and South Africa U20.
