This week we look at some vital changes in Welsh rugby for the coming season. Firstly the new rules to safeguard children and youths within Welsh rugby, meaning everyone involved in that part of the game needs to complete Criminal Record Bureau checks and complete an online course through the Welsh Rugby Union website by the end of the year.

WRU Child Protection Consultant Mark Williams-Thomas explains the rules and how they can protect the volunteers helping to run age grade rugby as well as those taking part. Wales captain Ryan Jones talks about that and the coming season, while WRU Group Chief Executive Roger Lewis was on hand to emphasise the importance of this scheme.

This season will have a new look with the ELV law changes coming in. Blues Region Community Rugby Manager Richard Hodges was part of the team at a Six Nations conference – he explains the law changes and how they can be used.

Craig White is the new man in Warren Gatland’s Wales set up and this week he explains what success looks like and how the national squad are coming to terms with that.

Finally Neath Director of Rugby Rowland Phillips and the entire Neath squad will be running in the BUPA Great Wales Run to raise money for the family of Gareth Jones, who died so tragically after breaking his neck in their game against Cardiff.
