Roger Lewis said “The EDF Energy Cup has been a resounding success from our perspective. Not only have our clubs enjoyed taking part in a very competitive cup competition against the Guinness Premiership clubs but we were very proud when Osprey’s won the EDF Energy Cup Final last year.
“Sales for the double header semi-finals at the Ricoh stadium in March are higher than they were at the same stage last year and over 25,000 tickets have already been sold for the final at Twickenham Stadium on April 18 so it’s a competition that clearly appeals to the fans.
“The WRU will give all the support it can to the discussions currently taking place between the RFU and PRL and we hope that the competition will remain in the future once those talks have been concluded.
“We will keep the Welsh Regions and the Welsh Premiership clubs fully informed of any developments.”
