Blackwood are the new leaders of SWALEC Division One East after a comprehensive 43-13 win away at the students of UWIC.

Brothers David and Trevor James got two of the away side’s five tries with Mark Birkby, Gareth Busby-Davies and Gareth Price, who also claimed 20 points from the boot, completing the rout. 

They climb to the top at the expense of faltering Newbridge who slipped to a shock 32-24 defeat against bottom side Newport Saracens. 

Two tries from Nathan Powell and one from wing Wesley Cunliff had helped the Saracens to a 22-10 half-time lead.
Newbridge came back stronger in the second-half with tries from Richard Powell and Gary Wilks but a second try from 
Powell, sealed a surprise win to lift Newport off the bottom of the table. 

Penalta are now the new side at the bottom of Division One East after a narrow 22-28 defeat to Llanharan. 

In the remaining game of the day in Division One East Ystrad Rhonnda took a big step towards the safety of mid-table with an emphatic 41-8 win away at Bargoed. 

Tredegar stay top of Division Two East after their 20-13 win against Bedlinog. Dafydd James and David Ford got the tries.
Abergavenny were the big scorers of the day in Division Two East as they ran in four tries to demolish Abergavenny 29-15.
Pill Harriers are chasing down the leaders in Division Three East, as they romped to a 37-5 win over Pontypool United, with two tries from Leighton Burrow. 

Strugglers Abertillery pulled off the shock of the day beating high-flyers Croesyceiliog 29-5. With neither of the top two playing third-placed St Peters took full advantage in Division Three South East with a 24-6 win over Penarth.
 
Monmouth were the big scorers in Division Four East as they trounced Chepstow 30-10, and Heol Y Cyw maintained their stranglehold on Division Four South East with a narrow 13-8 win against Llantwit Major.
