The young Welsh side were in total command throughout and led 34-0 at the break. The English Students just couldn’t break out of the Welsh stranglehold despite the best efforts of the visiting props Abbey Constable and Charlotee Micallef who always made the hard yards but saw all their efforts come to nothing.

Second row Sioned Harries opened the scoring in the 12th minute after romping home from 30 metres. That was quickly followed by tries by Rhiannydd Morgan and Kerin Lake, who impressed throughout at full-back, as the Welsh running game splintered the English defence almost at will.

Adi Taviner cut through the English midfield to score in the 34th minute while Lake raced in from 50 metres to show her opposite number Hannah Gifford a clean pair of heals. With Bethan Preece keeping the scoreboard ticking over with three conversions and a penalty.

England started the second half much better with hooker Emily Hunter to the fore, but they couldn’t find a way through the Wales rearguard. The second half was only seven minutes old before the floodgates opened once more.

Sioned Harries began the landslide when finishing of some good interplay from a lineout. Carys Thomas and Lowri Harries then raced over before Sioned Harries showed a great turn of speed for a lock to race clear for her hat trick.

Charlotte Murray and Paris Nicholas added to England’s misery with Lowri Harries completing the rout on the stroke of fulltime with Wales’s 12th try.

The remaining points came via the boot of Preece.
