Skrela a doubt for Cardiff clash

Toulouse could be without double-Heineken Cup finalist David Skrela for their match with the Cardiff Blues this weekend.

Skrela injured ribs during Toulouse’s 41-10 Top 14 win over Brive last weekend, But the fly-half underwent a scan yesterday and it confirmed he had a tear in the rib area. A decision on his fitness is expected in midweek.

And the man who denied Skrela a Heineken Cup winners medal could be the man who fills his boots this weekend.

Freddie Michalak, the mercurial Toulouse fly-half, is expected to replace Skrela in the playmaker’s role if he is ruled out of the Millennium Stadium clash

Skrela was in the No.10 jersey when Stade Francais lost the 2005 final 18-12 after extra time.

His goal-kicking has given his side a dozen points, but in added time, it was Michalak who stepped up to score a penalty and a drop goal to seal the title.

Skrela was an unused replacement in the Colomiers side who lost the 1999 final 21-6 to Ulster.
Menawhile, the reigning French champions are also expected to include the likes of former All Black Byron Kelleher and influential talisman Jean-Baptiste Ellisalde.
