With all four sides out of the running for the respective age grade finals, there is nothing to play for in terms of qualification.
However, neither region will want to go into Christmas on a losing note with the Under 16 Gogledd Cymru side set to move ahead of Blues North into fourth place in the table should they secure a second win of the season, at Blackwood RFC (2pm).
However, despite being rooted to the foot of the ladder, the Dragons too will go fourth should they win for the first time on home soil. Successive home defeats against the Ospreys, Scarlets and Blues North have cost the Gwent region dearly this season but team manager Wayne Pugh is looking forward to what he hopes will be a change of fortunes for his side.
“We have been competitive and we have shown development throughout the squad this season,” he said. “Having said that, we would like to think we could win our last two home games and at least improve our position in the table.”
Without a point to date, the Gogledd Cymru Under 18s will find life tough at Newbridge (2pm) where the Dragons have shown some decent form this season without winning. Like their under 16s, they too have lost three successive games at home, leaving them in fourth place in the table with 11 points from six matches. Victory over North Wales would take them ahead of the Ospreys who travel to play the Blues at Merthyr on Monday night (7.15).
