The U15s crushed the Dragons 0-50 at New Panteg to secure their title while the U18s had to fight harder for their silverware with a hard earned 12-22 victory over their Gwent rivals.

The U15’s game began in scrappy fashion with the Dragons having the best of the first five minutes with their forwards taking the game to the Scarlets, but early nerves from both sides led to a few handling errors.

From one of the ensuing scrums the Scarlets moved the ball along the backs to Sioned Jones who outpaced her opposite number to score the first try. This was quickly followed by a second from Elin Burton, which was converted by Rhian Jenkins.

The Dragons were still competing well up front but once the ball was moved wide the Scarlets had a clear edge, with Mari Jenkins at centre breaking through for the third try, converted by twin sister Rhian. The fourth try followed soon after when Jodie Williams intercepted to score under the posts, Rhian Jenkins converting.

The Dragons brave resistance was now weakening and from a turnover with Elin Burton completing her hat-trick in style.
The second half began in similar fashion to the first half with the Scarlets backs quickly on the score sheet with a second try for Sioned Jones. The game was wrapped up by Abi Williams who ran in an excellent try from her own half.

The result ensured the Scarlets U15’s completed their campaign unbeaten from four games. In the process they scored 138 points while not conceding a single point.

The Scarlets U18’s also came into their game with the Dragons unbeaten, and were keen to match the achievement of the U15’s and win the regional title.

The Dragons 18’s had no intention of following the Scarlets script and with a strong side they came out firing, scoring a try and conversion within the first five minutes through Alexia Evans.

The Scarlets responded quickly with an individual try from Rachel Rees, converted by Elinor Phillips. With the scores level there was very little between the two teams, but good work from the Scarlets forwards Sam King and Betsan Williams led to a penalty which was kicked by Rachel Rees, to give the Scarlets a 7 – 10 half time lead.

The second half saw the Scarlets getting the upper hand with the back row of Carys Davies, Nia Davies and Angharad Williams dominating, with the Dragons tiring Rachel Rees ran in her second try, converted by Phillips to lead 7 – 17.

The Dragons hit back immediately with Evans’s second try. The game was finally wrapped up when Darcy Hardy crossed to complete a memorable regional double.
