Neath out scored Newport by four tries to two, with Gareth King, Gareth Gravelle and Alex Jenkins among the scorers. Mike Poole and Richard Dale crossed for Newport, with Lewis Roblyn scoring a crucial five penalties, which was the difference between the teams by the final whistle.
Pontypool suffered another defeat at the hands of Ebbw Vale in a bottom of the table clash. Andrew Bevan and Rhys Jenkins both crossed the line for Ebbw Vale, complimented by four Gareth Bowen penalties achieving a winning margin of 22-12.
Llanelli produced a strong performance to beat Cardiff at Cardiff Arms Park, 42-24. Nick Reynolds, Ceri Jones, Nathan White, John Lewis and Justin James all contributed tries to Llanelli, winning a bonus point along the way. Prop Christian Day scored for Cardiff, as well as Garyn Lucas and Owen Ruttley.
Carmarthen Quins achieved a narrow victory over Bedwas, winning 30-28 in a closely fought game. Bedwas outscored the Quines by four tries to one; Rob Carter, James Murphy, Jamie Jones and Stewart Thomas all crossing the line. Bedwas suffered with indiscipline, conceding six penalties, all slotted over by Gareth Cull as he led Carmarthen to victory.
Llandovery ran in five tries against Glamorgan Wanderers; Adam Yelland, Joe Ajuwa, Howard Thomas, Lloyd Phillips and Dean Fitzgerald taking their chances to score. Cerith Rees converted four tries and added a further penalty to seal the 36-17 triumph. Gareth Knight and Harry Trelawney scored for Glamorgan, with Daniel Fish adding a penalty as well as two conversions.
An exiting game between Pontypridd and Aberavon ended 28-28 at Sardis Road. Chris Clayton, Aaron Branwell and Rhys Downs scored for the home side, with Dean Gunter adding three penalties and one conversion. Ben Thomas, Chris Morgan and Rory Gallagher contributed the Aberavon points total with tries, with Jamie Davies matching Gunter’s efforts of three penalties and one conversion.
