“We’re developing all the time from within our region, We’re a young group of players that are all the time getting better,” he said as the region prepare for the most crucial part of their season.
The Parc y Scarlets side host Cardiff Blues on Saturday as they look to close an eight-point gap on their Welsh rivals and guarantee a spot in next season’s top-flight European competition.
Davies’s side may yet seal a spot in the tournament if the Blues win the Amlin Cup, the competition the Scarlets were knocked out of by Toulon last Saturday.
But the Scarlets must hope victories against the Blues, Connacht and Glasgow are enough to see them keep matters in their own hands and leapfrog Dai Young’s side.
And Davies insists the Scarlets can handle the pressure as they approach the first of three remaining Magners League games that could decide their Heineken Cup fate. “There’s pressure, of course there’s pressure,” he said.
“We’ve got a clear view of how we want to play the game – an open, expansive style of rugby, which sometimes can be high risk in closing games down.
“But we’re not going to change the way we are heading. Nothing will distract us from that.”
