Rhys Bow opened the scoring for the Blues North A with a well struck penalty which was equalised by a penalty from Scarlets East outside half Ben Williams.

Blues North A took the lead after a combined forward move when No. 8 Jay Evans powered his way over the line.

The try started a period of dominance for the Blues North team, while keeping the Scarlets team penned in their own territory the Blues side added two further tries before half time from hooker and captain Nathan Mason and from centre Luke Davies.

With a conversion from Bow and one from outside half Liam Jones’ Blues North A took a 22-3 lead. Shortly before the break Ben Williams kicked a second penalty for Scarlets East to make the score 22-6 at the end of the first half.

In the second half the Scarlets East team adopted a more expansive approach and this reaped its reward with a much more assured performance from the red shirted team.

The Scarlets East team attacked for most of the half, playing most of the time in the Blues North A territory.

Despite having the major share of possession and position the Scarlets team could manage only one try. This came after an excellent passage of play which saw pacey centre Jed Davies cross the Blues North try line. Ben Williams converted this try to make the score 22-13 with some quarter of an hour to the final whistle.

Through the half the Blues North A defence was both very well organised and proved too strong for the Scarlets East team although they threw everything at their opposition. This made for an exciting end to an enthralling final worthy of a competition for talented young players.
