The Ospreys became only the third side to taste victory at the Stadio di Monigo and following Treviso’s impressive victory over the league leaders Munster in the Northern Italy, Holley and his coaching team took no chances in preparing the team to face the Italians.
“It was an extremely pleasing, hard fought win,” said Holley.
“We realised how tough it is to come here these days and we watched Treviso closely.
“The result itself is extremely pleasing but we are happy to have put in a goo performance. We have worked hard it was a great team performance but perhaps the scoreline did not reflect how close the game was.”
“They still managed to break through twice, it will still be very tough for lesser teams to come here.
“Making a good start is something we talked about coming into this game. Needing start well, there’s a big crowd there and it was important that we didn’t let them into the game in the first 20.
“We managed to score some quick tries but didn’t pull away. At half time we felt we needed to hit the ground running in the second and we did that.
“Until the end we kept Treviso at bay. To get the win and secure the bonus-point is extremely pleasing. It’s a happy changing room and camp right now, this squad’s really gelling.
“We’re extremely proud to be Magners League champions and we’re determined to defend our title.”
