Everyone who registers receives online support with one lucky club being awarded an enhanced support package, which includes a visit from an international player. Last year saw over 400 clubs register for the programme.
Rugby clubs across the country are being urged to register their club for RBS RugbyForce before Friday 25th March 2011, to be in with a chance to receive an enhanced support package, which includes a visit from a current international player.
After speaking to over 700 rugby clubs across the UK, RBS RugbyForce found that the need for local funding is as strong as ever. 68% of clubs surveyed said that important repair work and improvements were needed, with 64% looking for less than £10,000, a sum that could be raised via regional fundraising projects.
Backing the programme is Wales legend Ieuan Evans, who is calling for communities to get behind their local rugby club, as 73% of clubs said they rely on community support and fundraising to continue to grow.
Speaking to the WRU about the programme, Ieuan said, “Grassroots rugby clubs are at the heart of the community and in these difficult times they need the backing of the local people more than ever. RBS RugbyForce helps clubs to help themselves,”
Rugby clubs should register to be part of the RBS RugbyForce programme at www.rbs.co.uk/rugbyforce . Clubs must explain in 500 words why their club needs improvement, demonstrating in particular how the club contributes to the local community.
The RBS RugbyForce Weekend takes place over 11/12 June 2011. Full information on the programme can be found at www.rbs.co.uk/rugbyforce or share your views at www.facebook.com/rbsrugbyforce
