The 21-year-old hasn’t featured for the Welsh region since picking up the injury at the end of December but is in line to play against Magners League leaders Munster at the weekend.

The injury came just at the wrong time for Williams who was starting to put a run of impressive performances together and he is now hoping to help the Blues push for a play-off place with just five rounds of domestic action remaining.

“I was gutted when I got injured because the internationals were coming up, Richie Rees was away with Wales and I would like to think I would have got a good run of games for the Blues,” said Williams.

“Then Richie got banned and that made it even more disappointing, but it’s just one of those things, isn’t it?”

“You go through stages with it.

“Initially, I was quite angry about it, you get frustrated because you are watching, but the last month has been all about being excited at getting back training and playing.

“I was just glad to get back on the pitch last weekend.”

As the race for a play-off spot intensifies, the Blues host Munster at the Cardiff City Stadium on Friday and Williams is only too aware of the threat posed by the Irish side.

“They are top of the Magners League and everybody knows they are going to be tough,” he added.

“It’s a big game for us, especially where we are in the table. We have been yo-yoing in and out of the play-off places and we just have to nail a play-off spot.

“We know we can do that, but we only have another two games at home and the rest are on the road.

“Everybody is ready to go now at the Blues.”
