The Wizards have won 14 of their 21 league games this season and made it through to their first Swalec Cup final in 36 years by defeating Llandovery last weekend. Pooler have won seven and drawn one of their 23 games, but have only lost four games at home during this campaign, and scored six tries in their narrow defeat at Llanelli last weekend.

The match will be the twenty-eighth time that the sides have met in the league with the Wizards leading the series by 15 wins to 11 with one game drawn.

With so many games in a short period of time Aberavon have made 11 changes to the side that defeated the Drovers just three days ago.

Seven of the changes come in the pack with No 8 Nathan Strong the only forward who started at Carmarthen Park on Saturday. Flanker Darryl Thomas returns from injury. Behind, there are four changes plus one positional – Matthew Jarvis reverts to fly half after starting at full back on the weekend. Centres Will Price and Liam Gadd remain.

Three Wizards are missing this evening due to them starting for the Barbarians at Richmond to celebrate their 150th anniversary season – fly half Jamie Davies, hooker Marc Breeze and wing Richard Carter.

Aberavon: Paul Bamsey; Richard Thomas, Will Price, Liam Gadd, Ricky Thomas; Matthew Jarvis, David Pritchard; Lloyd Howell, Gareth Harvey, James Jones, Rhydian Gierat, Gavin Ronan, Darryl Thomas, Nathan Strong, James King.

Replacements: Dan Davies, Andrew Jenkins, Nathan Brown, Aaron Bray, Chris Gittins, Rowan Jenkins, Neil White.
