The exclusive opportunity for fans on www.wru.co.uk/facebook_welcome is hoped to inspire Warren Gatland’s World Cup squad to victory ahead of their final game on home soil against Argentina on Saturday 20 August (kick off 2.30pm).
One lucky fan will scoop the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet the Wales team and deliver the messages of support on behalf of all Welsh rugby supporters, as the squad make their final preparations for the send-off game against the mighty Pumas at the Millennium Stadium.
All of the supportive messages will be immortalised in print to make a special book that will travel with the team to the southern hemisphere for the world’s greatest rugby tournament which will see Wales face South Africa, Samoa and Fiji in the pool stages.
Fans can submit their messages and enter the competition to meet the Wales team in person via the competition tag on the WRU official Facebook page.
WRU Head of Sales and Marketing Craig Maxwell said: “We urge all fans to send in their messages of support for their national team and enter the competition to win the greatest honour of any supporter, to hand-deliver the book of messages to the squad on the eve of the clash with Argentina.
“Many WRU Supporters Club members will be used to sending inspirational messages to be posted in the Wales’ changing room at Millennium Stadium and we’ve seen how these notes of support have boosted the team before rugby internationals.
“As Wales prepare to travel to New Zealand, we are looking for the biggest and best send off for the Wales team and pledge that every single supportive message submitted by Facebook fans will be included in what will be a book by the time Wales face Argentina for their final summer test.”
