On a balmy summer’s evening, players, officials, sponsors and supporters gathered in the University of Glamorgan’s “Stilts Restaurant” to celebrate the major achievements of the previous winter months.

Guest speakers Tommy David and Paul Turner cast their gems of wisdom and mirth before the appreciative audience, whilst rousing speeches from club captain Chris Dicomidis, manager Richard Langmead and coach Dale McIntosh epitomised the spirit that had spurred Ponty on to success in their various campaigns.

A special award was made to lock forward Chris Martenko who had been forced into early retirement through injury, also to club director Jack Bayliss for his magnificent efforts in upgrading the Sardis Road playing surface.

The annual awards for the Pontypridd youth and senior squads were made as follows…

Youth:
Most Promising Player of the Year – Adam Harcombe
Players’ Player of the Year – Tom Flye
Player of the Year – Alex Thomas

Seniors:
Clubman of the Year – Jack Bayliss
Players’ Player of the Year – Dafydd Lockyer
Player of the Year – Owen Williams

At the commencement of another season, the Gala Dinner of 2011 was a timely reminder of the fine achievements and the enduring spirit of the great rugby institution that is Pontypridd.
