He said the thoughts and best wishes of all his squad are with the miners, their familes, friends and the rescue teams.
The coach chose to deliver his message as he prepared to announce his team to play Samoa at Hamilton in the Pool D Rugby World Cup match on Sunday.
He said: ”On behalf of the squad we send our support back to Wales. It’s very important to us. The players in the squad are well aware of the miners caught back home in Pontardawe.
“Their thoughts are very much with the miners and their families and friends. Hopefully there’s a positive conclusion to the mining accident back home.”
