Wales scored 12 tries on the way to recording their biggest every victory in rugby’s showpiece tournament and Gatland believes a number of players laid down their marker in the game and are pushing for a start against the pacific islanders next Sunday.
“The challenge to the players before the game was to give us something to think about and they certainly did that,” said Gatland following the game.
“Now we have got a few selection headaches ahead of the Fiji game and that is exactly what we wanted.
“Obviously we will sit down and go through the tape over the coming days but I thought the playing coming back from injury played well and the bench made a real impact.
“The guys really went out and put their hands up for selection.
“At times the team out there was very young and in the second half I thought we were very patient and finished the game well.
“We knew we had to come and get a bonus point and we started well but we did get a little complacent and to be fair Namibia put us under pressure at the end of the first half.
“”At half-time we spoke about being more clinical and controlling the game and we were a lot more effective in the second half. I thought we looked slick out there especially after making 11 changes from the previous game.
“Injury wise we are not too bad, a couple of players took a few knocks but we are ok. The players returning from injury played well and the ones in the squad who are injured are on track for a come-back so things are looking positive.”
