Wales Head Coach Warren Gatland, said: “This was about qualifying out of a tough group. We played well in some tough weather conditions.
“I am particularly delighted at the attitude of the players and now we can look forward to playing the quarter final next week.
“So far in this competition we have been trying to come in under the radar and if that continues we will be pleased. There’s nothing like winning to build a bit of character and it also meant a lot that we didn’t concede a try.”
Captain Sam Warburton, added :”We have been working hard over the past six months and now it is paying off. We were motivated to get out of this game without conceding a point and the score has proved our defence is strong.
“This win has proved a massive boost to all the boys and now we know for sure we are in the quarter finals. After 80 minutes we could have looked to end the game but the boys kept going and wanted that extra score.”
Centre Scott Williams, said: “We knew Fiji would come out and carry hard but then in the second half we were able to cut loose.
“You have to believe you can win and hopefully in the last few games we have shown what we can do. ’I was really happy to be on the score sheet but this was a team effort and we managed to keep them out in defence.”
