A Jamie Davies try and a Gareth McCarthy penalty gave the Welsh All-Blacks a 10-7 interval lead after Lee Rees’ try for the hosts. But the league-leaders failed to add to their score in the second half and Drovers wing Jake Randall touched down with twelve minutes remaining to clinch a vital 15-10 triumph.
Pontypridd extended their rich vein of form to see off Llanelli at Sardis Road. The champions were in control following a length-of-the-field try from Bowdy Davies, but Ponty rallied as scrum-half Rhys Downes darted over twice after the break to lead his side to a 29-16 victory.
Scott Sneddon converted a last-gasp try to win Cardiff a pulsating encounter at St. Helen’s. Welsh international starlet Tom Prydie, fly-half James Dixon and wings Nicky Thomas and Eli Walker touched-down for the Whites before the visitors hit back with rumbling tries from lock Chris Bundy and prop Dan Preece. In the final minute, hooker Jack Hopkins barrelled over for the Blue-and-Blacks to bring them within a point and Sneddon added the critical extras. The hosts desperately collected their own added-time kick-off and set up Matthew Morgan for a drop-goal in front of the posts, but his kick sailed wide.
Lewis Roblyn’s touchline penalty handed Newport a 36-33 victory over Carmarthen Quins and elsewhere Aberavon dispatched struggling Pontypool 40-16, Bridgend edged out Cross Keys 30-29 and Bedwas beat basement-club Tonmawr 37-30.
