Phillips scored one of Wales’ three tries as they marched into the last four of the World Cup, a stage they have not reached since the inaugural tournament in 1987 and Phillips was obviously delighted after the game.
“That was a historic win for Wales today,” he said.
“The boys have been outstanding in this tournament and in the lead up to today’s game and this is a great achievement.
“We have worked our socks off for this and we deserve it.
“I have so much respect for the Irish boys, we know them well and they are a great bunch but full credit to us we were superb out there today.
“Full credit to the fans, they were here right behind us and it was just a great day.”
