He says Wales will want to prove a point and fly home with the satisfaction of a good result against one of the world’s best teams.
Jenkins said: “This is an international and there will be no problem in motivating the boys to give everything. We have already played some good rugby in this tournament and we will want to continue that good form.
“The loss against France was disappointing but this is an international match for Wales and we will want to do well.
“It is disappointing that it is not a final but it is an international match which is an honour for anyone to play in. Australia is a great team but we have kept a settled team for this game so we have got no excuses. We’re working on the areas where we can target them but I don’t want to talk about our game plan.”
Jenkins added the Wales team is anxious to play well in their final Rugby World Cup match as a “thank you” to the fans.
He said: “We have got great support out here and back home and we want to put in a performance to show our appreciation of that.”
Being named as skipper is symbolic of the strides forward Jenkins has made since his rugby year began with injury woes which kept him out of the game.
Since then he has returned to the game but had to travel to New Zealand nursing a calf injury before he was able to fight back to fitness for his first cup start.
He said: “I’m happy to be on the field again because it has been a long road for me to get to the World Cup. But with each game I have got fitter and better so I am really enjoying myself.
“At the end of the day we will be representing our country on Friday so all the boys will be up for it.”
