It’s been more than seven weeks since the squad departed for the World Cup in New Zealand and after reaching the semi-finals of the tournament on the back of a string of impressive performances they were given a huge welcome in South Wales.

After stepping off the bus to a chorus of Welsh songs, assistant coach Rob Howley admitted it was good to be home.

“Its great to be home and its great to have all this support,” said the former Wales scrum-half.

“We have always said that we have had the best supporters and during the semi-final week we were proved right.

“Seeing the stadium on match day when we played France was a special sight and we have all been aware of the tremendous support.

“The players deserve all the credit they are getting at the moment.

“We still came fourth but we were hugely disappointed with the last two games.

“But from a world wide perspective this tournament really put Wales back on the map and that is where we deserve to be.”
