A chance to prove ourselves – Howley

Assistant coach Rob Howley wants Wales to prove their impressive performances at the World Cup were not just a ‘couple of one off games.’

Wales host Australia at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff tomorrow (Saturday) in a repeat of the World Cup third-place play-off game.  The Wallabies came out on top in that encounter in Auckland and Howley believes this is a chance for Wales to prove their standing on the world stage and take a southern hemisphere scalp.

“This group of players found momentum during the World Cup,” he said.

“We’ve been through the positive changes and had momentum at the World Cup but want to prove it wasn’t just a couple of one off games.

“We’re playing one of the best teams in the southern hemisphere who we lost to in the World Cup.

“It’s Wales versus Australia and it’s a huge game.

“Against Australia it’s about keeping the ball, being accurate, having composure and patience and being physical.

“That physicality starts up front at the set-piece. We have to ask questions there before we want to play rugby.”
