Llandovery came out on top in the battle of the top two sides in the Principality Premiership.
The Drovers recorded a comfortable 31-7 victory over visitors Aberavon at Church Bank, thanks to tries from centre Matthew Jacobs, number eight Luke Kendall and wing Sam Soul.
The table-toppers, who lead the Wizards by six points in the league albeit having played two games more, were also grateful for a 16-point haul from the boot of outside half James Garland.
Pontypridd kept alive their title hopes with a six-try, 38-7 victory over bottom side Tonmawr at Sardis Road. Home winger Owen Williams crossed for a brace of scores, while fellow speedster Matthew Nuthall, scrum half Lewis Jones, Callum Thomas and centre Gary Williams also got their names on the scoresheet. Winger Steffan Andrews notched up the only five-pointer for the Pitmen, who are now 23 points adrift of second-bottom Newport.
By contrast, Ponty are within a point of third-placed Neath following a crushing 45-19 defeat for the Welsh All Blacks against Carmarthen Quins at Carmarthen Park.
Quins ran in five tries, including a hattrick for wing Lee Williams, as they recorded their 12th bonus point of the season. Fellow wing Rhys Thomas and centre Alex Pickersgill also crossed for mid-table Quins.
Cardiff put Monday’s home defeat to Newport behind them as they beat rivals Swansea, securing a bonus point in a 35-8 triumph at the Arms Park. Tries came through wing Richard Smith, fullback Tom Williams, flanker Rory Watts-Jones and centre Cory Allen.
Cross Keys continued their impressive form, surviving two yellow cards in a 27-22 win at Pontypool. Wing Christian Baller crossed twice for Keys while fly half Steffan Jones added a conversion, four penalties and a drop goal. Pooler scored three tries, but the 11th-placed side suffered their 11th loss of the season.
Elsewhere, Bridgend triumphed in an entertaining midtable clash at Bedwas. Canadian World Cup star Chauncey O’Toole crossed for one of the Ravens’ five tries in a 39-21 win at Bridge Field.
