Wilson urges Wales to bounce back

Danny Wilson has urged his Wales under-20s side to “bounce back” against Scotland following their narrow Six Nations defeat at the hands of Ireland.

Wales were edged out by their Irish counterparts in Athlone in a hard-fought encounter which Wilson’s men could have snatched.

Wales took the lead thanks to Sam Davies but Ireland grabbed a crucial try through Shane Lydon to enter the interval with a narrow lead.

Lewis Williams restored the Dragons advantage midway through the second-half but Ireland slotted two late drop-goals to snatch the narrow victory.

Wilson was disappointed with his side’s performance but insists the only way is up.

“We made far to many basic errors, we didn’t keep the ball for any periods of time to build pressure we spent almost the entire game defending, said Wilson

“Quite a few decisions went against us but we lacked discipline.

“These are young players, they’re fresh and new together. We know where we are and can only build from here and move forward.

“There was a lot of effort and endeavour but our execution was poor. We know what we have to work on and we have to bounce back at home against Scotland.”

Wales face Scotland at Colwyn Bay next Friday.
