Ponty in charge of destiny

Pontypridd have their destiny firmly in their own hands as they prepare for the last league fixture of the season.

A straight win against Llandovery will ensure Ponty finish top of the Premiership table. The climax to the winter’s campaign takes place at Sardis Road on Saturday (KO 2:30pm).

Llandovery, themselves one of the form teams of the season have much to play for, as a bonus point win would clinch their passage to the Play-Off semi finals at Ponty’s expense.

There are all sorts of mathematical permutations involving a drawn game, try and bonus points added on that could affect the status of the four top teams in the league – Llanelli, Aberavon, Pontypridd and Llandovery – who are still aspiring to glory.

The bottom line is that Pontypridd know what they have to do, as difficult a challenge as it entails, to battle to a home win over their worthy opponents.

Ponty will give a late fitness test to lock Cory Hill who has been troubled by a bruised shoulder, whilst winger Owen Williams is a definite absentee with knee ligament damage. Centre Adam Thomas is not available, having re-joined the Wales Sevens squad.
