The region return to their spiritual home against Edinburgh tonight in the RaboDirect PRO12 with Williams named among the replacements.

The scrum-half grew up watching Cardiff RFC and then the Blues on the terraces and reckons the move can inspire the region to glory.

“Moving back to the Arms Park will be like having another person on the pitch,” said Williams.

“We played a few games here last year and I have no doubt that we won those games because of the crowd. That support will be really important for us. Hopefully we can really make it a really difficult place to come and a fortress.”

“Ever since I was about eight-years-old I would pop on a bus to come and watch the Blues. Coming back is great and when I was young it was Cardiff Arms Park that I dreamt of playing.”

Edinburgh beat the Blues in their last match at the Arms Park before their three-year switch to the Cardiff City Stadium. And head coach Michael Bradley expects a fierce challenge in the capital.

“I was talking at the RaboDirect PRO12 launch to Phil Davies and he was excited about it because it’s his first competitive home match, so it’s going to be a big day for Cardiff,” said Bradley.

“They’re bringing back all their internationals and are expecting a day of celebration.

“We’re very much aware of that but we performed to a reasonable level against Munster and now have to pick up on that, and this is a great opportunity for us to get the points back that we consider we lost last week.

“Cardiff are one of those sides who will be challenging for the top four, so if we can get the win it will be welcome in terms of what we’re trying to do down there.”
